Join Me on My Advent Journey

Advent is the period on the Christian calendar that is used for reflection and preparation for the coming of Christ. It begins on December 1st this year and runs through December 24th, Christmas Eve. I usually start Advent with good intentions of daily devotions. But the Christmas preparations take over my brain and as Christmas arrives, I find myself reflecting on how fast time went and how little I really thought about its meaning. So, this year, I am working daily on my "Advent Calendar Wreath" and I would like you to join me.

Here's how it will work: Below is my "Advent Calendar Wreath". (The Advent Wreath is used to progressively tell the Christmas story through Advent.) The candles represent the 4 Sundays in Advent and Christmas Day. There is one leaf for each of the other days in Advent. Each Sunday, I will post suggested tangles, one for each day that week. You are welcome to copy my wreath and then complete the candle on Sunday and a different leaf each day.

For myself, I will be completing a devotional and then tangle one part of my wreath as I reflect on what I've read. I won't post the devotional because I think that should be a matter of personal choice and there are many resources available.

Here is my "Advent Calendar Wreath". It should be fairly easy to copy for your personal use. I suggest you get it ready, along with your devotional source and pens for tangling, before December 1st so that you can begin your Advent Journey on the first day of Advent.*

*This idea came from Sybil MacBeth, author of Praying in Color. She has templates that you can download if you'd prefer to go that route. You can read about her concept of praying in color at the link as well.

I am looking forward to hearing from you as we take this Advent Journey together.
